Madison County’s track team had its third match of the season this year and its first home meet last week.
It got a crack April 9 at the state champions to open its Bull Run District matches in the Clarke County Eagles. But the champs were too much to overcome as both the girls and the boys track teams lost 80-47.
Some of the results for the boys included a first place finish in the 300-meter hurdles for Rashad Bolden. He also finished second place in the 110-meter hurdles. He was beaten out by teammate Pete Hill for that first place finish.
Jonathon Cordova got a first place finish in the 400-meter dash as well. Ryan Banks got a first in the 800-meter dash also.
Brandon Utz and Todd Wright came in second and third place respectively in the discus.
Jerel Carter got two second place finishes in the high and long jump and wrapped up third as well in the 200 meter.
Rounding out the top finishers for the Madison team was Cruze Banks with a second place finish in 400 meter.
Madison Coach Moe Weaver sent his thanks to everyone who attended. “I would like to send out thanks to my hurdle crew which is made up of all the boys shot and discus throwers,” Weaver said. “They did an outstanding job getting the hurdles on and off of the track. I felt that this helped move the meet along quickly. Again thanks hurdle crew.”
Weaver also said this about his team: “As for my team I felt that we improved even though we lost. We keep improving week to week. This week I am proud of the team as a whole.”
Madison had a match at Rappahannock County Wednesday and will have one at the Wrangler Invitational on Saturday at 10 a.m.
