Two young women pretended they had car trouble, then pulled out pistols and robbed a Madison County man last week, authorities say, adding they are seeking the public’s help in finding the pair.

Shotgun blast, knifing cap argument
Things escalated as two Madison County men argued Sept. 19, with one of the men eventually firing a shotgun, then stabbing and seriously injuring the second man, authorities say. The 54-year-old victim was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Targeting Madison’s troubled youth
Brightwood resident Penny Toliver first moved to Madison County more than 20 years ago for the community’s “family atmosphere.” But over the years, she’s watched this “atmosphere” start to change, she said. The parking lot of a fast food restaurant and convenience store complex in downtown Madison is one spot where unsupervised youth often congregate and cause trouble, according to Toliver.

Achsah duo arrested in MCHS break-in case
Madison County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men Aug. 8 in connection with a recent breaking and entering at Madison County High School and theft of firearms and computer equipment, according to two sheriff’s investigators. Deputies charged Achsah residents Andrew Merryman, 18, and Bobby W. Richards, 19, with breaking and entering, grand larceny, receiving or buying a stolen firearm, possession of stolen property with the intent to sell and possession of burglary tools.

Man charged in concrete block attacks
A Madison County man reportedly attacked and seriously injured two Madison County women Sunday, choking and kicking them, throwing them against a wall and beating them with a concrete landscape block, authorities say. The man, David F. Campbell, 45, of Poorhouse Road was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, simple assault and destruction of property, according to a Madison County Sheriff’s Office news release

MCSO investigator: Accepting new position was good move
As a “new deputy” to the Madison Sheriff’s Office and a “casualty of the last election in Culpeper,” I would like to address several of the issues brought up by Charles P. McDowell of Reva. First of all, Madison Sheriff Erik Weaver did not let anyone go after his re-election or the proper phrase is “not reappoint” anyone. I would venture to say that anyone who left did so because the opponent did not get elected.
