Those curious to see if the board of supervisors will approve the construction of a third new 199-foot tall cell tower this year will have to wait. The application to build the tower in Brightwood – which was first postponed in June following the board’s approval of two other cell towers in Shelby and Radiant – has been put off by the applicant once again.

Supervisors OK new cell towers
Two new 199-foot tall “monopole” cell towers will soon be up in Shelby and Radiant. At a June 4 meeting, the Madison County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1, with Supervisor Bob Miller casting the lone no vote, to approve two special use permits allowing the construction of these new towers, according to officials.

Both the Madison County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors approved 199-foot cell towers despite unequivocal language in the comp plan that should have precluded such approval.
