As a graduate of Madison County High School, I found myself back at my old school this past Sunday. This time the atmosphere was totally different.
As I walked through the front doors I couldn’t help but notice a small, framed photo hanging on the end wall. It read, “In God We Trust.”
A little further, near the entrance to the auditorium, was another beautiful sign which said, “Welcome to the Summit (church).”
Yes, I came back to school to attend church, the first meeting of the new Summit.
I must say I found this a quite refreshing use of the school — the service was great, the praise music was quite inspirational and the people were really down-to-earth and friendly. I heard a very appropriate message that was quite affirming to my sense of what we all need to deal with. I was very pleased to renew some old acquaintances and meet some new people that were related to some of my former classmates.
As I looked around, I saw that all the children’s needs were being met with a very organized nursery, and a very dynamic children’s service [according to my daughters]. I felt very good about being there to praise the Lord.
Yes, I plan to be there next week, God willing, as I partner with this church and I invite all of my friends who are not attending church to come over and check this out. I have no doubts that you will not be disappointed.
Thanks to the Madison County School Board for allowing a church to use its school — this will be a significant contribution to our community.
