The Madison County Board of Supervisors should study the career and tactics of the lady governor of Alaska who was just recently appointed to be the Republican candidate for the vice presidency of the United States. It seems that while she was the mayor of a small town in Alaska (population 6,700) she hired a lobbying firm to seek funds from the federal government. That effort succeeded to the tune of just a little over $19 million in four years.
Why, if we were able to acquire funds proportional to the population of the two metropolises, Madison County could realize an income from the Feds of a shade more than $35 million in the next four years, $8.5 million per year, and roughly $800 per annum for every man, woman and child living here in Madison County.
Of course, I realize this sort of skullduggery would not sit too well with the honest Republicans and Democrats of Madison County, but as this lady’s success in politics demonstrates, we could always claim we were actually Washington outsiders while taking the money hand over fist.
And like her, maybe one of you five guys could get to be the next governor of the commonwealth of Virginia. All you’d have to do is what she apparently did: just blow the whistle on your fellow “skullduggers” and pick up the pieces while they waste their fortunes on attorneys’ fees.
Yes, there’s a lot we country bumpkins can learn from a savvy lady like Mrs. Palin.
