I opened to the article featuring “Meet Your Deputy” and was appalled. The picture of Deputy Jackson had been cropped to an idiotic racial version that should have never been printed for the public to see.
Are we not in the year 2008? I do remember from history that there was a civil rights movement and there is now a civil rights group known as the NAACP that actively works to prevent ridiculous and abhorrent acts such as this.
If this deputy’s photo needed to be cropped that badly as editor or a “professional” newspaper, it should have been assigned for someone to do so on a computer program, but definitely not with whiteout.
This man puts his life on the line to protect the county of Madison and someone at The Madison County Eagle was so unprofessional that he or she had to white out his eyes and his entire head of black hair because he is African American? This man deserves a full written apology from the staff of the newspaper and a decent photo of himself next to it.
