A recent article about quibbling over cell tower aesthetics observed that emergency assistance for a victim of an ATV accident in Graves Mill was delayed due to the absence of a cell signal at the scene. The recent demise of that victim, LeRoi Moore, sax player, founding member of the Dave Matthews Band and owner of the Graves Mill farm, excruciatingly drives home the value of “more bars” and should silence any further opposition to installing towers sufficient to accommodate cell phone access in “the last mile(s)” of Madison County.
This past week’s Eagle issue reporting “Radar” Finks’ request to purchase (with our new tax hike) an improved radio system only adds insult to injury since the usefulness of a radio system isn’t diminished if people can’t call 911?
It is shameful that the pleas of voters fell on deaf ears, and that it took the death of a beloved and talented celebrity to highlight our supervisors’ apathetic oversight of their sworn duty to protect and defend the people.
If the board members had to live without a signal at their homes, they could better relate. Board opponent of cell towers, Bob Miller, has bars at his estate. Rock on, Bob!
