Can’t something be done to stop bear?

I think Madison residents should know that there is an ongoing black bear problem. (Where I live), a fullgrown bear has been in my yard – it climbed a rock wall and over a wire fence — the past three nights.
It has destroyed bird feeders, eaten bird feed from the can I keep it in, and last night removed siding from the shed where I put the bird feed can. It ripped off several boards and left a hole nearly large enough for the bear to enter before I heard it, looked at it, and frightened it off.
The game warden says to remove food sources (I have) and wait “two weeks” for it to go away. I can’t go out after dark, nor let my dogs out. When it leaves my yard, it will probably head for someone else’s.
