A Madison County man reportedly attacked and seriously injured two Madison County women Sunday, choking and kicking them, throwing them against a wall and beating them with a concrete landscape block, authorities say.
The man, David F. Campbell, 45, of Poorhouse Road was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, simple assault and destruction of property, according to a Madison County Sheriff’s Office news release. Additionally, an emergency protective order was issued against him.
He remains held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange.
One victim, a 52-year-old Poorhouse Road woman, was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, but was later released with a broken arm, multiple staples in her head and lacerations and contusions over her entire body. The second victim, a 31-year-old F.T. Valley Road woman, also received contusions over her entire body.
Campbell’s arrest came following a 10:40 p.m. June 29 assault in progress call in the 1000 block of Poorhouse Road, which is in the Criglersville-Banco area.
Authorities, who say Campbell and the two victims are related, say they are unsure why the attack occurred. “We know of no motive at all,” said Sheriff Erik Weaver. “But alcohol was believed involved.”
