Emergency Services
Medical emergencies are handled by the volunteer Madison County Rescue Squad—Wayne Jones, president; Steve Grayson, vice president; and Dave Mickelberry, captain; and by a paid squad headed by Lewis Jenkins, director, EMS.
The squad has five advanced life-support ambulances, a state-of-the-art crash truck, and a pair of four-wheel-drive vehicles for rough-country use.
Madison County Volunteer Fire Company handles all fire emergencies. Jack Fray is fire chief and Troy Coppage is president of the department.
(Note: All emergency calls for police, fire, or rescue assistance can go through the 24-hour dispatcher. The E-911 emergency communications system is now in effect in Madison County.)
